Before the Siren

"Before the Siren" is an educational PowerPoint presentation that ventures past tornado safety into the world of storm spotting, emergency communications, and severe weather.

Prepared by Heartland REACT Storm Spotters with help from the National Weather Service, meteorologists and professional storm chasers, it gives school age children, grades 3-9, important information about the tell-tale signs severe weather is approaching.

This informative presentation uses amazing real-storm photographs and simple, clear diagrams and explanations that teach students about how severe weather forms, what the clouds mean, and how to keep themselves safe.
